Back

After looking at the back end of the Astra we thought it needed a bit of smoothing so we decided to de-badge.

Tools needed for this job are:- Hairdryer to warm glue, (borrow from mum, sister or girlfriend but remember to give it back after) plastic scraper, sticky label remover (available from stationary shops).

First thing to do is heat the badges for at least a minute using the hairdryer. Then with it still on, slowly push the scraper behind the badges to separate them from the body.
There will be a considerable amount of glue left on the car which you will have to remove. We decided to use some sticky label remover spray, the glue is soaked with the spray and left for a minute or two and then wiped clean with a cloth.
After taking off the centre badge there were two locating holes. The holes needed welding flush and the boot lid re-spraying for a complete colour match.

The car was booked into J. D. Williams in Brymbo, Wrexham who did the welding and spraying. When we collected the car we were very impressed with the standard of workmanship and we would have no hesitation in recommending them to any-one. As you can see from the image (click on button for full image) the shine says it all.
